Old Space, New Volume

Old Space, New Volume arises from the challenge to Norwegian artist Lise Wulff to create sculptural objects that inhabit the space of Mina de São Domingos in a relationship with the ruins of ancient mining exploration, based on the history of the place and the people who inhabited them.

Sobre o evento

In March, we receive at Mina de São Domingos the Norwegian artist Lise Wulff, partner of the MALACATE Project, recognized for her interest in relating her works to the space and community where she works, but also very interested in promoting ecology and regeneration through art.

 

Lise will be in residence from March 20th to April 1st , working with the community on the construction of a wooden installation, at the entrance of the Mina de São Domingos, entitled Nest .

 

According to the artist, "the nest" reminds us of the variety of birds that inhabit the region, which is famous for its rare species. The birds, which can fly anywhere, chose to fly and nest here. The installation aims to create new memories ; not only symbolically pointing to the Mina area as an area of interest, but also for the collaborative work in making the installation, through the use of the installation as a meeting and contemplation point."
