Miguel Maia
Actor and Director
Artistic director of Companhia Cepa Torta. Its focus is on dramaturgy, staging and creation with non-actors. has training based in engineering and project management (PMP), but has been working in theater since 1999 with different backgrounds- Chapitô, IFICT, CEM, Gulbenkian (João Mota), United Artists, Restart and Bruno Bravo.
Master in Theater and Community by ESTC (2013). As an actor, he highlights “Fausto” (First Symptoms/Bruno Bravo - 2016) and “O Rei Imaginário”, by Raúl Brandão (Leonor Buescu) in 2017. He works in television, advertising and cinema. In theater education, the work developed with young people stands out -“Sei de um Sítio”, Amadora (2012), dir. from the junior club at Teatro da Garagem, with Maria João Vicente (2013) and coordination “Selfie”-schools Odivelas since 2018.
He staged "Um Pássaro e uma Cabeça" that, since 2015, has toured a wide number of portuguese cities.
Since 2017, he has been the artistic director of the project Esta noite grita-se, of theater readings directing texts with actors such as Sara Carinhas, João Lagarto, José Wallenstein, Paulo Pinto, Pedro Gil, Rita Cabaço, Catarina Wallenstein, Elmano Sancho, among others.
In 2019 he created the show “Studies on desire - O Barão” by Branquinho da Fonseca and Aldous Huxley, premiered in Lisbon and with touring the country, awarded with the best adaptation of a text for theater among several other awards by the Guia dos Teatros, JUP and Community Culture and Art.
In 2020, he wrote and staged the show “Nunca Visto” with the Marvila community and professional actors, in Lisbon.
